All the experiences and mentors that I have had throughout my career in education have led me to believe wholeheartedly in a student centered approach to education. After all, without students there is no education. The Monitor Student Learning competency in the K-12 Principal competencies is ultimately about doing what is best for students to succeed. This is an area that I excel in. I have always prided myself in my ability to create a culture that fosters a community of leaders, encourage positive behavior in students and respond to misconduct fairly, and meet the diverse learning needs of all students. I have intentionally grown in these areas as well as the other competencies in the area of monitoring student learning. I have gained valuable experience in this competency through my practicum and class coursework.
